Vacation Scheme Student Review

I sat in one area across my vacation scheme - Corporate 125. This involved working alongside a principal and with trainees to complete real tasks to do with the Private Equity matters that the group was working on. I also attended various sessions that gave an insight into the firm more generally as well as an in depth introduction to the differing client services that the firm provides. The scheme also included various exciting socials.

I was able to gain an amazing understanding of what Linklaters is like as a firm and the work that the lawyers complete on a daily basis. This could not be done online - the in person practical experience helped me to gauge what it would be like to work at the firm long term or to accept a training contract here. The vacation scheme cemented my drive to work at Linklaters and I had an incredible time.

I have learnt a variety of new skills/developed existing skills. My biggest growth comes in the form of time management and prioritisation of tasks. By working within the environment I was forced to learn how to communicate clearly and concisely about my workload in order to be able to manage expectations and complete the necessary work for both my principal and grad recruitment.

Everyone at the scheme is incredibly welcoming and inclusive. The core values of the scheme genuinely do play out in the way that everyone operates here - each area seems to adopt a people first stance where the wellbeing of the employees is prioritised. I could really see myself working with the people here.

I massively enjoyed the opportunity to gain such a deep insight into Linklaters and feel very grateful for this experience. It really solidified my desire to work at the firm. It was very well thought out and organised, and I feel like I grew to fully understand what being a trainee here would be like.
