Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Being part of the Project Management, this included being in attendance of daily project progress meetings & workshops. This would include me to meet lots of external people from different projects this includes construction managers, engineers, design teams and etc... My day to day tasks would include doing notes and meeting minutes for project meetings and formatting them and sending them to my line manager for approval.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I think I was given moderate responsibility, tasks like meeting minutes, attendance of meetings and more. I believe for someone of my level my team created an opportunity to learn as much as I could during this internship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
100%. As mentioned to my line manager during appraisal, a lot of the content i learnt during university definitely interlinked and were great insights to see in a real life situation than from the textbook. Over the 6 weeks, I have learnt a lot of project management terminology that upon entering Savills I would of had no idea of this.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
At any opportunity I needed support or any help during this internship I was given it. My team would listen to any pointers I had or opportunities I was after during my short tender and provided made it happen for me. For example their were projects I wanted to attend which I was not originally on that were given for me to attend just as a result for my learning experience request.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Savills has a hard working work ethic surrounded with like minded individuals of interest in Real estate and Construction (in my department). The general atmosphere I noticed during my time, was friendly, approachable and anyone in the office regardless of level or status is willing to help. Its a really flat hierarchy system at Savills which for myself is really appealing.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my time at Savills. For someone coming from a construction Management background, coming to Savills with an open mind regarding my department of the Project Management team. It was really insightful and honestly has created a good image of what i want to do in the future upon finishing my degree.
