Summer Scheme Student Review

As a Sustainability Summer Scheme student in the Property Management division, I have been helping on tasks in the team's various service lines, including:
- Green building certifications e.g. BREEAM
- Environmental management and compliance (e.g. ISO 14001) including on-site audits
- Sustainability reporting
- Sustainability strategy and client research
- Physical and transition climate risk assessments

I was a given a reasonable amount of responsibility based on my own background and the training I was provided, and I had the opportunity to work on many real-world projects.

Being my first internship, I've greatly developed my professional skills, including communication, teamwork and presentations, throughout my time at Savills. Aside from this, I've gained many technical skills and knowledge on environmental compliance, green building certifications, climate risk analysis and sustainability strategy and reporting.

I received an overwhelming amount of support and guidance throughout the internship, and I found everyone in the team to be very supportive and welcoming.

The company culture and general atmosphere is extremely welcoming. Everyone I spoke to, including those in different teams, was very friendly and willing to give up some of their time to talk to me. The people at the company seem very hard-working, but still maintain a good work-life balance. I also had the opportunity to attend a company-wide BBQ, which was great!

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. I have learnt so much more about the real estate industry and the role of sustainability for in-use assets. I've also made lots of connections with the team and other interns.
