Summer Scheme Student Review

No two days have been the same during my internship, which has made the experience incredibly rewarding. I’ve spent a couple of days each week out on site and had the opportunity to rotate across different teams, giving me hands-on exposure to both Building Surveying and Project Management. My daily activities have included attending meetings, completing reports, and taking part in site visits—each offering valuable insights and real-world experience.

I was given a really good level of responsibility during my placement—it helped me settle in without feeling overwhelmed. That first week was all about shadowing and learning the ropes, and then I started putting what I’d picked up into practice. Getting to apply things straight away was super valuable, and it made the whole experience feel real and rewarding.

The main skill I’ve developed during my placement is confidence in my own ability. Being trusted with real responsibility has encouraged personal growth and helped me truly find my feet in a professional environment. I’ve learnt so much, and it’s been exciting to see how the concepts I studied at university translate into real-world projects. The networking opportunities have also been incredible—connecting with professionals across the business has broadened my perspective and given me a deeper understanding of the industry

I felt really well-supported throughout my placement. There was a great balance of guidance and trust—early on, I had plenty of chances to shadow more experienced team members and ask questions, which helped me build a solid understanding of the work. I always had people around who were more than happy to help, and it was genuinely lovely how keen they were to teach me. Their patience and encouragement made a big difference to my learning and really helped me grow in confidence. As things progressed, I was encouraged to take initiative and apply what I’d learned, but there was always someone around to offer feedback or point me in the right direction

The company culture at Savills has been one of the highlights of my internship. It feels genuinely fresh, positive, and inviting—from the moment you step into the office, there's a real sense of pride and professionalism. Everyone seems proud to be part of the company, and that shows through in both their work and the way they interact. What stood out most to me was the unique approach to client relationships; there's a strong focus on collaboration and care that makes the environment feel not just professional, but personable too.

I loved my placement—it was the perfect introduction to the working world. The experience gave me a real insight into the industry without ever feeling overwhelming. I learned so much, grew in confidence, and felt truly supported throughout. A huge thank you to Savills for giving me this opportunity and making it such a memorable and rewarding experience.
