Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role is in the Rural Consultancy Team. Involves completing a variety of valuations for farms and estates. I also complete management work, assisting clients with advice on land based jobs, particularly putting licences in place etc.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Definitely, towards the start it is all about learning from others and observing to gain confidence before doing tasks yourself.
Seeing this then helped me to progress with clients and engage more as well as carry out tasks alone.
This progress and responsibility also meant that I formed a professional relationship with one of the clients, which has resulted in my placement extending for another 6 weeks.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Absolutely, my communication and confidence skills have improved massively, as well as my work ethic.
I have also improved at technological skills, such as excel, email writing skills and many others.
I have gained a new approach to balancing work, as well as moving to a new place alone which has helped me come out of my comfort zone.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
As much as I needed. Whenever I have had any queries I have been able to ask and assisted by a member of my team. This also extends beyond my team to other members of the office and other offices if my query is more specific.
There has been a huge amount of on the job training, including on valuation inspections and graduate training days.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Amazing, everyone is so welcoming from across the company and I have been able to meet a great amount of people from different offices. I have not only met colleagues I have also met friends.

Be confident and don't be afraid to ask questions. You get the opportunities to do lots of things and so do all you can and meet as many people to form connections.
