Summer Scheme Student Review

I have to assist graduates and associates within the commercial department on a variety of different things. For example I have had to assist in report writing in Valuation, attend viewings for Office Agency and help fill in excel spreadsheets and also attend viewings for Investment.

Once shown how to do a task I was given the independence and responsibility to complete this by myself and then if I had any questions I could ask freely if I needed a better understanding of things but the majority of the time I was just left to my devices to complete my tasks to the highest standard I could provide.

I have learned a lot in excel over my past month as I wasn't that confident beforehand so I now feel my confidence in using excel has increased. I have also learned what goes into viewings for clients and the information required beforehand so you can answer any questions. Lastly, I have developed and adapted to a new style of report writing in the structure that Savills complete their reports.

I received an abundance of support and guidance with everyone always answering all my questions and helping my understanding with specific things. I would also get help if there was something I was doing and there was a shortcut way to do things like on excel which increased my time management and skills for beyond my placement.

The company atmosphere was always positive and warm with everyone getting along or introducing themselves to me if they recognised a new face and the graduates especially really took me under their wing this past month and were so friendly and always making sure I wasn't alone.

I loved this placement as it gave me a range of experience within different commercial departments ones that I know I like and others I have never tried before. Experiencing working at Savills has been the best opportunity as once I graduate Savills is the company I would really want to work for and this placement has reaffirmed this is the company I want to have my property career in.
