Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently an audit senior with my day-to-day duties including the planning, audit fieldwork and audit completion of various different entities. I have a number of more junior members of staff who I have shadow me and assist with their work / allocating tasks as well.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have now completed the apprenticeship programme, but I enjoyed it very much. The partners at EVMS were incredibly supportive throughout my apprenticeship and recognised periods where exam stress might play an important factor and made sure to check in to make sure I was ok in terms of workload.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During my time at EVMS Partners I have learnt various new skills, including the completing of investment audit testing and the legislation surrounding the regulated entities within the financial services industry. I have built upon my existing personal skills whilst mentoring junior members of staff.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme was very well structured. I had a clear 1 year path (at the time of joining EVMS) as to what the expectations were in terms of my learning path and progression. The partners supported my studying and made every attempt to try and link my work to my studying.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I couldn't fault the support received from the partners at EVMS. The culture within the firm is incredible and they ensure that employees are involved with as many aspects of the business as possible. We often have daily catch ups just to make sure that everything is ok and that as employees we are happy and I couldn't really ask for much more from them in terms of support!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support whilst working towards my qualification was also exceptional. I was often given time during work hours and particularly around exam time to take time out to study, particularly if I expressed any concerns over an exam. The partners were happy to give me as much time as I needed in order to support me throughout my studies.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Since moving firms to EVMS Partners, I realised that a good training provider makes a huge difference in performance in the role. Feeling supported and appreciated really makes all the difference in terms of motivation and performance in everyday tasks. Being able to have experienced partners at hand to ask various questions to has really allowed me to see how everyday works in an accounting practice.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work, we often host various social events / running events / client lunches or dinners and we have an annual conference that I attended last year. I've been given plenty of opportunities to speak with clients and build on my professional skills outside of audit.

Would you recommend EVMS Partners LLP to a friend?

Why?
I was nervous about making the move to a smaller firm, but it has absolutely paid off. I actually recommended EVMS to a friend of mine who now works here as a management accountant. The culture in the firm is lovely and it's been so great working as part of a small, but friendly and supportive team, where as an employee, I feel very valued.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EVMS Partners LLP?
My biggest worry when applying to EVMS was the size of the firm, but I am glad that I didn't let this put me off as the opportunities and experience that I have gained in just over a year already has been incredible. As the firm is smaller, it gives the opportunity to get involved in aspects of the business that you might not get the chance to experience in a bigger firm as well. I have complete confidence that even as the firm continues to grow, the culture will remain as it is too.
