Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role during the apprenticeship was a teaching assistant where I worked as a 1:1 with a child in class supporting their daily needs as per the EHCP. I also delivered interventions in the afternoon with year 6 children.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

When I was completing the programme I really enoyed it. The school and my tutor at college were extremely supportive.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Behaviour management. Theories, referncing and essay writing. Delivering lessons to children. Supporting the teacher and children in class.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Extremely well organised. Good pace and covers a lot.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

When ever I needed anything I knew I could ask the SLT at my school and they would support me the best they could. This has lead to my career with them soaring to new levels and exciting opportunities.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My tutor was available via phone and email and in person during our tutor time. She was really helpful and supportive and made you feel at ease.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

When I was still in the role it helped me to think about how I can best support those children I worked with and strategies from research to support behaviour management. It gave me a boost of confidence.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Subject netwrok meetings. We do charity sport teams against local schools. We have social events with work collegues and lots of in house training is available and external training.

Why?
They have always been extremely supportive of my career and achieving my goals. I have soared through my career path with the guidance and help from the school and trust. I have been challenged when needed and supported too.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Penbridge School?
Go for it. It is never to late to achieve your goals and dreams. It could be the start of something amazing.
