Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I’m an apprentice hairdresser. My days consist of greeting clients, making the drinks, shampooing and as I’m coming towards the end of my apprenticeship I am now doing more clients including colours and blowdrys. I also take bills, clean etc
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love it !! Couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else , always look forward to going to work as I have such a good team around me and I love learning more each day. I enjoy everything about my job!
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt lots of new skills. For example my social skills have really come on since working at Fierce due to being with the public everyday. Everything I know how to do with hair I have also learnt here ( blowdrying, colouring, styling ).
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well planned. I know exactly what I’m doing each week before it starts and we always stick to a schedule.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Lots ! She’s always there to help me with any questions or anything I need. Nothing is ever too much hassle and I know I could come to her about anything.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My teachers are always there to help me and guide me through my course. They have plans set in place to make sure targets are met on time and they have always done the most they can to ensure this has happened all throughout my course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It gives me the practice so that when I am in the workplace i feel more confident doing what I have learnt at college that week.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We always attend events where we can , for example we attended women in business at Porsche Wolverhampton not so long ago. My boss sometimes sends us on courses to further our knowledge and aside from all this we meet up outside of work as we all just get on so well, whether this be for a meal, a bbq in the summer etc.

Would you recommend Fierce Hairdressing to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Not once did I feel unwelcome or anything when I started working here. Everybody is so friendly and they all try to make you feel involved in everything. You learn something new everyday and we’re always busy so we get lots of practice and experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fierce Hairdressing?
Be ready to learn and work in a busy environment ! Everybody works so hard and it pays off ! We have a great team moral
