Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Part of my role is acting as am assistant project manager on a 20 million + project, the project manager on this project is also my mentor. I also am managing the planning permission for the companys beacon project, this is in my line managers department, this is regular stakehodolder communications, schedule reviews and document reviews. A new project i have just started for asset managemnet is looking at repacing a transformer. A recent investiagtion from the ONR has meant one of our buildings needs additonal fire arangemnets added before operations can resume, i am managing this, just created a mini pep.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Definately the choice for me. I think this is swayed by the team and site i work on, nearly everyone will help me pushing my development. I am given a range of things to have a go at, i able to feedback on this and ask for different activities that i want to do or need for my KSBs.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
So many since starting.
I have learnt to plan and schedule, communicate on CEMAR, manage stakeholders, lead a team, record regular tasks and safety observations, write and review project documents. My degree inforces all my on the job learning, and i am currently preping for my project managers qualifiaction.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is very self lead, but my team is very supportive and they have regular catch ups with me to check i am all on track. This has given me independence and disipline with my work. I am really lucky compared to the other apprentices on site, where if they aren't aware of what they need to do they cant ask for help as their managers don't know either.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As much as i need. Weekly meetings with my manger (she is in a different department), my mentor i sit next to and work on their project, the site delivery manager i use regularly when asking for help and he is happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
My training provider recently diagnosed me with ADHD and dyslexia, so now i am getting extra time in my exams and can access tools and aids to help this. This year i have been getting on a lot better and i believe this is why. i would say the wellbeing and sensistity of the uni could improve, with my mum becoming very ill last year i was struggling a lot and didn't seem to get any help from the uni, when mentioned to my tutor they still kept telling stories to the whole class which was quite triggering. Bit disappointed in that part. Some lecturers are better than others, some just seem lazy like not replying to emails or answering questions in a lecture.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
More autist on content being taught and who is teaching. Rebrief on sensistity and wellebing
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No, feels our site is separate from the rest of the business

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Nuclear Restoration Services to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall i have had a good experience with them so far and we need new people in the industrty for change. What i am getting out the programme is great and i am very grateful for that
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nuclear Restoration Services?
You definately have to be resileint and confident to work in this comany, to a extent. You need to ask for work and push your line manager and mentor to allow you to learn. There is a lot of resillence to change, which i have had quite a through issues with, bouncing back from this can be hard but ist all about learning from it
