Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an apprentice barber I was tasked with assisting the Senior Barbers, greeting customers and dealing with enquiries and ensuring the shop was clean, maintained and kept to a high standard.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship as I was supported every step of the way and got the benefit of hands on experience whilst I was learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learnt how to cut and style hair, how to speak with customers. I also developed my cleaning skills and my ability to deal with difficult conversations

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I was given clear focuses and clear coursework to do every week and had dedicated hours for learning
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer regularly checked and tracked my progress and ensured I was happy with my training and environment from the beginning.

My training provider made it easy for me to progress and supported me through challenges I met along the way.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification gave me all the basic skills to be a successful barber. Without this apprenticeship I would not have gained the knowledge to be able to effectively work in a barbershop
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there were barber conventions, industry events, external training experiences and sponsored events too
