Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Conducting paralegal work. Drafting legal documents and sending emails to Defendants as well as attending to clients. Being a Legal Aid, Human Rights firm, the majority of clients are prisoners.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I greatly enjoy it. The coworkers make what can normally be very stressful, extremely fun to do.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned how to deal with clients as well as how to navigate the legal sphere which I had not done previously.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is structured. I spent 4 days in office working but 1 day at home studying.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
If I am ever struggling with a task I can very easily ask my supervisor for assistance and it will be provided.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider has assigned everyone their own individual skills coach who is approachable and I can speak to about most things.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Thanks to writing essays I am able to better understand some of the basis in what I draft for my employers. However, admittedly, much of what I am told and informed that I must remember seemingly has little relevance to a lot of the work I am asked to do within my office.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
There are currently no extra-curricular activities to get involved in at my workplace.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Kesar & Co Solicitors to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The law firm itself is small and focused. This allows every employee within the firm to have an experience which feels tailored to them. The experience of one employee can differ greatly from another. Because of the smaller size, you are required to take on more work and perform tasks. To some this may seem off putting but I personally find it challenging and engaging, giving a sense of accomplishment that I may not have been able to achieve within a larger, more impersonal firm.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Kesar & Co Solicitors?
I would advise them to be confident and themselves. Your ability to show your potential is just as important as the skills and potential that you already currently possess. If you cannot exhibit why you would be a good fit, it will be difficulty to convince your employers of the same. Specifically as a degree apprentice, they are not looking for someone who already possess all the skills and qualifications but more so someone who can prove themselves capable of obtaining them
