Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involving managing my team to achieve their full potential to ensure key business objectives are being meet and exceeded within my store (KPIs). I give a weekly and daily overview of warehouse tasks and ensure my team are providing world class service to every customer, by keeping up to date with our diverse product range and services. To ensure ensure we stand out amongst our competitors and remain proactive in the hardware retail sector.
A normal day for a ASM in Screwfix, will involve completing daily tasks such as stock and cash checks. informing the team of key HO communications and ensuring they have a safe environment to work within. Our stores are supported by the HO customer contact centre to help escalate issues that customers can be affected by and also offer support to any queries a store may come across.
Part of the ASM role also considers the feedback we receive from our teams and how we can better their workplace. Therefore it is curial that as a ASM we help colleagues integrate these behaviours in stores and face challenges and changes as one.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I found my apprenticeship useful and informative. I very much enjoyed being able to develop my my knowledge and dig deeper into the operations of the business I work for. Since doing my apprenticeship it has inspired me to continue pursuing my career with Screwfix and hopefully move onto the BM course and move over to head office within the future.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since starting my apprenticeship I have been able to dig deeper into how our how our business operates and how I can incorporate this into my everyday work actives to ensure my store is meeting brand image expectations.
As working before as ASM in a pervious job role, I have been able to develop my leadership skills further and how I can support those around me. The apprenticeship has taught me about how individuals learn and how I can utilise my own leadership style to best provide for their own learning styles.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised. The structure of the L3 retail team leader programme was split down in serval well formulated module and covered all bases of which you need in order to perform the ASM role. You will have regular catch-ups with your coach and also have planned time built into your working schedule for you to be able to keep up with course work and complete your EPA modules.
The learning platform Smart assessor, also allows you to have easy and accessible to your workload and your coach provides you with deadlines to be able to keep up.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have dyslexia and ADHD, therefore I was provided with extra time during my exams and had more regular sessions with my learning coach to be able to manage my workload. I found this extremely helpful, as I was able to maintain focus on what work that I needed to complete and a detailed learning plan on areas which I needed to expand upon. My mentor and BM were also fantastic in the support they offered to ensure I was able to achieve the best possible grade for myself.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
During my EPA, the training provider was able to answer any questions i had about the assessments and was also accommodating in means of providing me with dates and times that worked for to be able to compete these. I was able to email them during the EPA's at time and normally had a reply within the working week (Usually next day). They were also very understanding of my ALN requirements and provided me with extra time during my examinations, while also explaining the outcomes and what to expect during them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
By completing the L3 retail team leader qualification I have now a better understanding in the operations of the business and how to I can incorporate them into my everyday role. By completing the all the modules, I now have a board and detailed understanding of what my role incurs. This has helped me to adapt my behaviours to ensure I can bring my best self to work and work with my team effectively to ensure my store achieves.
