Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

my role is to receive goods and deal with customers who are enquiring products such as doors, worktops, appliances and cabinets. Since join Howdens Joinery I have only had a positive welcome and a well structured working plan involved from the depot to the warehouse. From dealing with customers to working with my colleagues I have a great time.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Through out the day I perform the normal daily tasks of unloading the wagon and xdc loads and after that I would scan the stock and place them all into the correct bays. Also through out the day I deal with customers walking in for small collections as well as loading the delivery vans on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt various different skill since I have joined starting with learning how to safely stack pallets, use the depots scanner systems to log all stock and recently I passed my forklift test. So now I have the skill to work effectively in the warehouse meaning I can now dispute stock.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the Howdens Joinery apprentice programme is very well structured with online calls and depot visits from my apprentice over looker who assets me and marks my work as well as helping me through the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive all the help from fellow colleagues when I ask for help whether it's to help look for a product or help with a customer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is extremely helpful as she explains what need's to completed and how to complete the task with the online and when she comes to an observation. She will tell me what's she is look for before the observation starts.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

yes I believe the training provide with the course helps with the work as it keeps you engaged with the small things you are going over in the tasks provide to me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there is events help within Howdens Joinery where a few people from different depots gather to go to. These event can involve something to do with a sale teams, design or general training events.

Why?
Howdens Joinery is a well structured work environment with friendly staff and a safe working environment as you are required to do training every couple of months to make sure you are staying up to standard with safety.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Howdens?
Before applying you should be aware that it can be an extremely taxing job on the body inside the warehouse during some sale periods. So you must be aware that it does take hard work.
