Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On the BDA scheme, apprentices are given the opportunity to spend 6 month rotations in various business departments. Currently, I am in the Sourcing Initiatives team. My role is project based which compliments my personality and skillset. Activities I partake in daily are engineer/ supplier negotiations on cost out projects.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Throughout my 18 months at GE Aerospace, I have enjoyed the experience tremendously. The apprenticeship relies on the individual to put in alot of effort to get alot out of it, which I like. I have been given a great deal of responsibility which is refreshing.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Developed skills:
Negotiation and influencing skills
Stakeholder engagement
Organisational skills
Project Management
Technical computer skills
Presentation skill and confidence

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The apprenticeship is well structured and organized through 9, 6 and 12 month rotations to provide the individual with a well-rounded experience in a fast-paced, professional environment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Your allocated rotation manager is very supportive in your development and if you engage well, you will see continuous improvement. In terms of external support, everything is put in place so if you need support, you will get it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We are assigned a personal tutor which is very supportive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
So far, I haven't seen too much crossover between my training provider and my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Employees at GE Aerospace are regularly engaged with External activity groups. As a new starter, I was immediately engaged with about joining sporting groups such as football, touch rugby and golf. I have joined all three and it really helps with networking and relationship building.
