Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a daily basis we receive products that have failed the rigorous testing process and diagnose the faults to be fixed. We work alongside experienced technicians and engineers to gain insight into their product knowledge. We also have opportunities to get involved in process improvement activities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
The role is very heavily based on problem solving and getting to the root cause of failures. While doing this I have learnt how to use various pieces of equipment that I hadn't seen before. Through enrichment activities I have developed networking with other apprentices through teamwork and organisational skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Most of the tutors are available through email when you have questions outside of the day release, and provide an annotated version of your draft submissions as feedback. This is helpful as you can see where you have done well and what needs improving for next time.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
In the technical subjects it gives you the theory behind what you do in company so you can understand why things happen and why things might not work. The more writing subjects I feel don't help in your day to day work however help when you have projects in work as they give you a practise run on how you conduct it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
As apprentices there are enrichment activities that we can get involved in. Some activities happen every year such as; 3 day residential trip, sports day, summer and winter socials, charity football match, volunteering week, and various team building activities. Across the whole site as well there are employee resource groups that put on events to raise awareness for their causes

Yes
Why?
Its a good career opportunities and can see a clear path to rolling off scheme into a permeant role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
The interview process has several stages that hope to get a sense of you as a whole person, not just academic achievements. The best advice I could give is to be yourself and maybe get involved in things that help you become a more well rounded individual to stand out.
