Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I deal with the stock in the warehouse this includes things like, if customers are in the store and buy something then i need to collect it for them, also i need to pick jobs that are getting delivered out to customers houses, and also deal with the deliveries we get delivered to the store for customers.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have really enjoyed the programme the last 10 month or so, i do enjoy coming to work and learning new skills and getting better each day i enjoy working with my fellow colleague's i enjoy meeting new people everyday whither that would be customers coming into the store or whither it would be new delivery drivers each week.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned things like people skills, talking to customers helping them with any questions i have also learned problem solving for when we need to put thins away in the warehouse and need to fit things in still try and create or leave space for picking things for customers aswell.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think it is organised really well i things tend to go to plan most days. with things like arranging with our delivery when the jobs will be ready for him to pick when and deliver to customers on time for their needs and then also arranging with customers when the customers items is ready to be collected.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support whither it would be checking up on me to see how i am doing day to day or whither there are any problems happening that she could sort out and help us with regarding shortages on the deliveries or miss picks on deliveries etc.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider whither it would be dropping a text to check up on me or whither it would be coming out to the store for a visit to check up on me as well and to see how things are going and if hr could help me with anything.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think it helps me day to day at work because i get to learn things i haven't learned before i so i know all the safety rules required so i don't get hurt in the warehouse also so products don't end up getting damaged or broke etc.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Every year there is a night where all the branches in Scotland are invited to Scot cart in Cambuslang where everyone gets the chance to compete against each other at go karting and then the winner has the chance to take part in doing this against other branches in different countries

I would highly recommend Howdens to people because it's such a family friendly company everyone is so welcoming and there is things like so many opportunities within the company if you are looking to make progress and better yourself by getting the chance to grow in the company.
