Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

We get customer forms that come through, we contact the customers to arrange a survey to go out and measure up their existing space as well as run through a survey sheet with them to gage what style/colour kitchen they're looking for. We then come back and design their kitchen using CAD and then send them the images to look at. Afterwards we would bring them in for an instore to look at all the samples and go over the design in more detail.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy using CAD a lot as I've always been artistic and designing is very enjoyable for me. I don't mind using K8 to quote but it is less enjoyable than designing.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt how to better sell to people which is something I didn't have any experience in before. I've also learnt how to operate all our systems that we use.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

K8 is quite outdated and is not very straight forward as what is listed in the book doesn't always match what is on K8. It does feel like for anyone new K8 is not straight forward and would benefit from some updates which would reduce the amount of mistakes disigners make.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive great support from my employer, which has been very helpful throughout my hole apprenticeship.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I've received great support from [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] my trainer from didac which has made everything very clear and easy throughout.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I would say all the experience I have gained throughout the apprenticeship is going to really help me going forwards.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I've taken part in the go karting event that happens every year, which was good fun. I also went to the howdens expo where they showcased all the new products. I believe they're a few more that I have yet done.

Why?

I do believe Howdens is a great company to work for. At my depot everyone has been very friendly and all the area managers have also been extremely nice. Everything that you need to do your job is provided for you. Howdens have great schemes going on.
