Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Our roles are continuingly changing ever 6 months we rotate to different departments. I'm currently on a service team which involves directly communicating with Howdens depots and coordinating deliveries to the depots across the country.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I toughly enjoy the chartered management degree apprenticeship, i learn something new everyday and it allows me to frown not only personally but academically and professionally too.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since beginning at Howdens my confidence has massively increased not only in the way i present myself to others but also enabled me to be more confident in my ability to make important decisions and contribute valuably to team discussions. Alongside i've also developed my industry knowledge.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is structured and organised amazingly, every 6 months we rotate to a new department and this process is made seamless by those coordinating the change and the new mangers teams we enter. Having this level of organisation makes the change less daunting for me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my managers at all times, they push me to get involved in new projects and new departmental processes. I know my managers are always there to support with my university work too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Corndel will provide a student with academic support if they ask for it, and they are easy to get into contact with, just message your tutor.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Through doing weekly work it always me to looks at business from another angle that those experience colleagues might not necessarily consider when leading a team. Learning the theory behind managing allows me to change the way i interact with others but also allows me to give a fresh perspective.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are loads for us to get involved with, for example the kids Christmas party allows us apprentice to get involved with the children of Howdens employees. There's also an annual Christmas party which is an amazing and very fun evening! All teams also get money toward what we call a depot incentive where each member of a team is given a certain amount of money to do something fun as a team, for example my team did a cooking class and virtual darts and we all had the best time! Theres also 6 a side teams to get involved with and also an annual rounders tournament for people to get involved with, this year all the apprentices are putting a team together, if we get to the next round we go compete in the lake district against the other winning teams. Howdens is like a family and there's always activities for everyone to be getting involved with.

Howdens is such an amazing company to work for, its like a family there's loads of things to get involved with as seen in question 8. They are a very supportive company to all those that work there and they have given me this amazing opportunity to be a degree apprentice here.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Howdens?
Go for it, its such a welcoming company and they learn just as much from your valuable experience as you will learn from them.
