Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Rotating every 6 months around different supply chain functions to gain knowledge and experience- including logistics, sourcing, planning and operations. Alongside this, I am completing a business management degree where we learn modules on campus every 6 weeks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the day to day in my rotations and working with different people. I love the apprentice community and all the different opportunities we have had, such as social events, an annual residential and team building days. However I feel like there is often a lot of uncertainty around the future, including getting a job after the scheme which can be stressful

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, working to complete a set of behaviours and skills as required by the apprenticeship standards. This includes managing people, budgeting and finance, awareness of self. I have developed my confidence and people skills as I am working daily with many different types of people

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
There have been recent changes to the structure that we are yet to experience. I am unsure how smoothly these will go but I know with time and experience it will improve. I do like the 6 month rotations as it gives you the opportunity to try many different roles.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Within placements it can vary based off who your manager is. I find I have had better support when my manager had previously been on this scheme. When I have had issues or questions our line manager has been responsive but you do have to seek that support yourself mostly
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Lecturers vary each module. I have had some who are extremely responsive and supportive. Others have not replied after the teaching, or extremely close to the deadline. The overall course leader is supportive
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The degree has helped me further my knowledge at work and vice versa. It can be stressful due to the workload which could impact my role as we only have 5 weeks to complete 2.5-3k word assignments so it gets tight towards the deadline day, even when taking legal off the job days
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have many social events, a volunteering week, a residential week, team meetings and teambuilding days which are all enjoyable as they allow us to bond and get to know each other

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GE Aerospace to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is great to learn about many different roles within a supply chain as well as studying for a degree alongside. You will meet great people, network and grow as a person. But I would recommend it if you felt confident that you could deal with stress/pressure well
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
Back yourself and all your experience- even if not directly relevant it will have taught you something you can link in to your application. Be confident and friendly as relationships are important at GE. Know from early on how to manage your time and advocate for yourself
