My job is a trainee accounts technician with on the job training for various accounting services such as accounts prep, VAT, payroll and tax services.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy working for Westcotts as a firm. The training is dynamic and no two days are the same .

I have learnt so many invaluable skills that I will undoubtedly carry with me throughout the whole of my accounting career.

I enjoy the structure that westcotts provides with a clear path of progression set ahead I can see what my future can potentially hold

I receive invaluable support from my employer not just in terms of the apprenticeship but in terms of my personal wellbeing too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider has a very limited role in what I actually do. I self study for the majority of the time having weekly meetings for any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The training undoubtably helps me in my role but I can hep think that it is slightly old fashioned and outdated. We are taught as though everyone uses cash books and t accounts and this just isn't the case any more. whilst I understand this is important to grasp the basics it could certainly b updated to reflect the use of software packages.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many social events both professional and internal which I involve myself and very much enjoy.

The training I have received is invaluable and has been an excellent start to my career in accountancy. Westcotts really do want the best for you
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Westcotts?
Obtain good GCSE and Alevel results this will give you a good foot in starting your accountancy studies. Its undoubtedly its a long process however the rewards certainly outweigh the short term sacrifice.
