Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Witness Care Unit in Criminal Justice, making sure victims and witnesses have the correct measures to attend court and providing the correct support for them such as interpreters and live-links. Communicating with the Crown Prosecution service and other Stakeholders on a daily basis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love my apprenticeship, my tutor is amazing and nothing is ever too much for her, she is the best tutor I have ever had in all of my education experience and I would recommend this course to anybody as I believe it is a great way to gain a new perspective on education as well as earning a decent salary.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed professionally and gained a lot of confidence whilst working, I started at 18 and have since learnt a lot of new skills such as different IT systems and a lot of new professionalism skills which will carry me through my career.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The apprenticeship is very well structured, we follow a set structure and are able to use 20% of our time in work to complete our apprenticeship we are also able to find our tutor in our place of work during the week if we are struggling with work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive support from my employer and feel that I will be able to complete my apprenticeship earlier than my actual end date. I believe that my employer wants me to do well and believes in me as a person and would like me to do well in the future.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive so much support from Riverside College, I have never experienced my educator giving me support before and I find that it has made a big difference for me in how I complete my work and also the quality of my work, I have been able to contact different tutors and also the wellbeing support in the college to help support me through my exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe that my qualification will help me to become more professional and understand force procedure better, it will also help me to understand how my role impacts Merseyside Police as a whole and appreciate the work that I put in on a daily basis.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are a lot of extra-curricular activities available in the workplace and they are advertised on our force system iforce where anybody can sign up to join, I have personally volunteered to be a Peer Supporter to support colleagues who are struggling in work.

Yes
Why?
It is a great opportunity with a lot of progression, there are lot of other roles that you can progress into and a lot of skills that you are able to learn within your apprentice role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Merseyside Police?
I would advise that you look up the force strategy before applying as it is a good thing to use in your interview and application.
