Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Daily I need to talk to people from all functions and try solve the problem that I'm faced with. It is a very stationary role, so sat at my desk very often with little movement. Usually I do the same tasks daily as part of standard work, and do not get to talk to people externally, only internally.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy it now that I feel more settled in my role and more part of the team. First couple of months were tough, with learning the business and felt didn't get much support from the programme when started - rotation manager stepped up and really supported me during this transition period. Enjoy getting that hands on experience and truly learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Learned to confidently present my findings in big meetings and developed my problem solving skills even further. Excel skills are being developed as very excel heavy based job. Encouraged to step out of comfort zone.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Could be better structured especially for the first year BDAs as now doing full year in work before starting uni. Transition from being at school to working full time can be tough on some of the first year BDAs and changes about uni were not communicated very well, especially about starting the following September and not January - only found out on first day from other apprentices so could have impacted people's choices. Felt that the first years BDAs were abandoned and not thought about, no OJT except enrichment (not enough for full 8 hours a week). Think this should have been thought through before new BDAs starting so had a project to work on as a cohort on the side or something similar. Once starting uni, think the programme is much better structured. First year of programme needs to be better structured and organized and better communication with first year bdas.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
GE have been very supportive, feel like people manager could be more supportive/available if needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
N/A but have heard not as much as Coventry were.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
N/A
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes plenty after work or even during lunch

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GE Aerospace to a friend?
Yes
Why?
GE care for employees with all the benefits we are given. All employees are very kind. Think some apprentices forget that we are colleagues first and then friends so sometimes some stuff said is not work appropriate.
