Engineering Technician Apprentice Review

On a day to day basis it involves a series of planned maintenance activities as well as mechanical breakdowns on site. This can vary each day, which is good as it means it's a new challenge each day, helping me improve my skills and knowledge on the plant. It involves a lot of problem solving based tasks too.

I feel my program is well structured with skills matrix being given to us, so I can tick off jobs I am familiar with and have had experience in and jobs which I may have not saw or done before.

I receive a great amount of support from my Line Manager, as well as my colleagues which overall makes it a enjoyable place to work.

I receive support whenever i need to.

I feel the qualification I'm doing in college is beneficial in many ways such as understanding materials, principles and also the theory behind why certain things are done the way they are.

For me personally, I found that I wouldn't get a better apprenticeship for how local I am because of how well rounded the job is. As i stated previously, each day a new challenge presents itself which will in turn make me the best skilled and knowledgeable at my job in the future. I feel like getting flung into the deep end is the best way to gain experience and this job allows me to get involved in tasks where i feel you wouldn't get opportunity elsewhere. The benefits the company has on offer as well are unmissable such as Share Scheme, Pension and private health care to name a few.
