Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is preparing accounts for both corporate and charity entities. Day-to-day, alongside preparing the accounts, I speak to clients and other members of our audit team to keep the process as smoth as possible.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme has been very tough at times in that trying to juggle work and study and meeting deadlines has been challlenging. However, it has also been very rewarding to look back and see how far I have come. I have enjoyed getting to know other people on the same programme to and the support we have offered each other.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed many new skills. I have built my knowledge and understanding of accounts thoroughly and am now starting to support other members of the team as they begin their accountancy career journey with us.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have recieved a great deal of support from my employer, particuarly when I found things challenging. From informal catch-ups with my line manager to more formal quarterly catch ups with my study coach and HR contact. I feel like I have always know where to turn if I needed help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

FI have been really good in supporting me through the qualification side of my appenticeship. All the tutors are very approachable and willing to accept questions and go through things to make sure you understand. Outside of the tutors, there is a very friendly atmostphere where you feel everyone wants you to succeed
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Tutors bring their real life experience into theor teaching which makes it more memorable. Which if you are at work and see something similar to that from study you are them able to able that learning to a real-life problem.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in various events across our firm. There are sports teams, but there are also various socials through the year and well being days which occur monthly and are open to everyone. It's up to you how much you want to get involved.

Would you recommend BHP to a friend?
Yes
Why?
BHP has strong values that feel like they really mean something. Everyone in the firm has been where you are during your training and really wants you to succeed. There are opportunities to develop at every level and clear paths to progress.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BHP?
Go for it. But understand that while the apprenticeship is a lot of work and commitment you will learn and develop so much in such a short space of time with a hugely supportive team behind you.
