As a HR apprentice focusing on Inclusion and Diversity, Early Careers Recruitment, and broader Talent Initiatives, my role bridges the operational and strategic sides of the business and people plan. I support shape how the company attracts, hires, and nurtures talent, ensuring practices are inclusive, future-focused, and aligned with business goals.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Its super busy but I am learning so much and like the pace- im looking forward to what the future holds.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt so much and developed personally and professionally. I now feel confident in many areas such as working with different levels of stakeholders and working on projects collaboratively.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I have had exposure to different areas as my line manager is keen and proactive to get me experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My line manager is supportive and wants me to do well. I feel I have a network of contacts in the business I can reach out to for support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My level 3 was good. I have just started my level 5 with a different provider so too early to tell.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Its definitely helped me be more strategic and reflective on the purpose of my role and how it supports the business.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have HR days annually and as an Early Careers individual, I get to meet up with other Grads/ Apprentices every few months on our internal development programme.

Yes
Why?
You learn a lot, for example, they encourage development programmes/ qualifications. There is also a lot of opportunities due to the changes happening in construction- they encourage new ideas. The culture is also very flexible (hybrid working)
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tarmac?
