Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Different rotations in each department of engineering, currently in materials and processes where I do lots of development work and testing replacement materials for the production process.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very much so, there hasn't been a day that I haven't wanted to go into work. The team that I work with are amazingly supportive and a good laugh to be with.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, all of the work that I do is new skills. I have learnt how to do resin injections and production of development blades.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is now well structured. At first it wasn't made well and we had to effectively come up with our own plan with the occasional influence from managers. Now we have sorted it though it is much better
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
From the people in my team I receive lots of support day to day and with long term plans. From more senior management I don't get much support but I find the people in my team are more relevant to this aspect anyway.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider gives 12 weeks chuck ups on how the apprenticeship is going and how I am getting on with KSBs, they provide the applicable training towards the degree as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The training is mostly applicable, but often I am learning the much more basic aspects of engineering that it is harder to relate directly to my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, lots of social activities within the student network, opportunities for volunteering and going to STEM events as well. There is a football team and also whole company events like bowling to do.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GE Aerospace to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a great place to work and gives you the appropriate support and priorities when doing the apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
Be true to who you are, there is no point in applying for a job pretending you can do something you can't.
