Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role changes depending on what department I am in but I am mainly in technical support and I am taking cases and working with customers to find solutions, or I am in college doing assignment work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy most of the program however I do feel some of the classes we do in college are not prevalent and with for some reason people who work in an office we have to study pneumatics. We also have to show we have an understanding of it even though we don't work with anything pneumatic.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I am continuing to develop my skills around coding in ladder and being able to code a PLC and the ability to network that with a brooder amount of products and how they work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program is well structured, but the teacher at the college can be hard to contact and the feedback soe of the time they give is not the easiest to understand. The way it works for me in work though I am mainly place din technical support but I will be moving to a different department soon and I am able to come to my manger and tell them when I am ready to move departments. However, I do know that getting evidence if you are in field service can be very difficult, and frustrating for the people who are in that placement at the moment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support when I go to them. i have a growth talk with my line manager every month. I also have a fortnightly meeting with my apprenticeship coordinator and my boss about where I am up to interims of my apprenticeship and asking about my mental health.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a alright amount of support some teachers are better at teaching then others and some will take our class time as an opportunity to mar other classes work but it doesn't happen a lot of the time. When I am in college the teachers will try and make sure that they have actually taught us everything we need for our assignment and that we know where we can contact them and how to find the materials that they have made to help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think some of the qualifications I am working towards will help me in my job role. Such, as anything around projects that means anything around looking at different ways to track projects and keeping time frame and having to talk and network with other people within the company. Also, any research projects and any research tasks and coding tasks really help me within my job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I am apart of a couple of different networking groups within my company and these allow me to et in contact with a lot different people. Who are in different job roles and different ages and different parts of the company entirely. So it allows you to get your name out to a lot of different people and I am was able to work with other apprentices in Germany last year. I was able to get to know these apprentices and work with them for about and it was a fun learning experience on how different people communicate.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The people I work with are lovely, my manger, boss and anyone else who I work with have my best interest in mind and everyone is always trying to improve and help. The work culture is great and people are very easy to open up to and talk to and with the level of professionalism everyone has its a really great place.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
Look into all of the different products that siemens work with, understand what you want to work with and look at some basic history of the company. Also, I would recommend to possibly do some spring pod lessons to understand some of siemens key values and to understand what work is expected of you.
