Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Input data such as customers' names and contact details into the computer system. Sort digital files to the relevant places. Answering the phone. Checking documents such as payslips and bank statements to calculate a customer's average income.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The company was excellent, I really liked my team and the people I worked with and felt that the regular team training sessions were really good. I did find the work boring at times and was ready for a change by the end of the course.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Improved basic computer skills, speed of typing. Greater communication skills from a lot of time on the phone. Better use of Excel and building pivot tables to analyse data.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
From the companies side it was very well organised, I had set study days and time booked out for my weeks spent at university. From the university side it was mostly well structured although they did not seem to know much about the employer or how to make the assignments relevant to the day to day role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
They were great, couldn't be more helpful. Spent time with me on the assignments, encouraged me to speak to people in other departments to get information for my assignments which included a meeting with the CEO. They also spent time to help me with academic things such as referencing and how to format work. This was on top of regular study days.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
This was hit and miss, my mentor for my dissertation was really good however other lecturers were harder to reach and find time with. They also didn't seem to know anything about my company and what industry we were in (there were only three different companies involved in the course) which meant a lot of the material was geared towards the manufacturing industry which was not relevant to the work I was doing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
There were some transferrable skills particularly from the management/leadership side but ultimately a lot of what we learned on the course was not particularly relevant.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, we have quarterly nights out as a team funded by the company. I have also had the opportunity to visit other offices in the UK. There are larger events which have included a trip to Alton Towers. There are also lots of things organised by staff which you can get involved in including hikes, charity runs/challenges. I have also played football both with people in the office and also as a work team against another company.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend First Response Finance Limited to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great place to work, fantastic people and it is an employer than genuinely cares about staff and their development.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to First Response Finance Limited?
Be open and honest about who you are and what you want out of work. Be willing to push yourself and get involved in things outside of your day to day role as that is the best way to get the most out of working here.
