I am a Solutions Architect, which means I am a customer-facing trusted advisor, with the ability to build and present AWS Cloud Architectures. I also help raise visibility for cloud infrastructure techniques and services, through events like immersion days or game days.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I greatly enjoy working at Amazon, due to the pure variety of the role. There are chances for learning, presenting, debating, writing and socialising!
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned many technical skills in order to be efficient at my role, and I have also been enrolled in an accelerated technical learning program. Alongside this, I have learned interpersonal and presentation skills to aid customer discussions. AWS is very centred on constant learning and curiosity.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very structured in terms of technical learning, including the accelerated learning course I am currently enrolled in. It is all very well paced in terms of onboarding, but with room for adjustment based on personal learning methods and progression.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive support in the form of onboarding buddies to help settle in, as well as resources for if we require any help to reach out for.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider has 1:1 support available for content help or assignment writing, as well as office hours for tutors to answer queries.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

In the first year the content is not very applicable to the role, but I expect it to become more useful over time. The writing aspects and researching are helpful for my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have affinity groups which are like societies, who put on social events. There are also some sports teams in football and other groups.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon?
Highlight your personal skills! Everyone is so unique and that is what's going to differentiate you from the crowds. Being yourself and being curious is key.
