Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role is to conduct financial analysis into the performance of the business. I use software to build reports and look into areas of interest to understand the profitability of the business. I also do some of the internal accounts work and reporting for things like month end and year end.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoyed the degree apprenticeship programme I was on. I enjoyed how diverse the programme was as it allowed me to learn about all aspects of a business and focus in on the areas I enjoyed most. It was also helpful to apply my learning from the degree back to my workplace.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Since joining the company I have developed my Excel, accounting and reporting skills significantly. I have also developed my interpersonal, team work communication and leadership skills. Finally I am currently working on improving my technical analyst skills to help me add further value to the business and improve knowledge for my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme was well organised and structured. I went to University in blocks and had plenty of time between Uni blocks to complete my assignments. I recieved support from both my university lecturers and my workplace mentor to help me get the assignments done and support me with anything I needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I received a really good amount of support from my employer. I had a specific work place mentor and my team leader was always kept in the loop with what support I needed on the apprenticeship. My mentor supported me with my assignments and also my end point assessment prep.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training provider was able to give me a good level of support. We always had contacts we could reach out to if needed, particularly in preparation for the end point assessment. I used the training provider for support if I had any specific queries but mainly used my workplace support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think my qualification gave me a good high level understanding of how businesses work, the different functions and why it's important for those functions to communicate. It also aided my leadership development and strategic planning skills. Overall I think what I learned from my course is useful in my role today.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some extra curricular activities offered at first response. The main benefit used is a quarterly budget which can be used for team get togethers E.g., dinner, go karting, escape rooms etc. These are a good opportunity to get to know your team outside of work and build morale.
