Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work on a variety of audits, usually completing simple tasks as I am still new to the role. This involves standard audit testing procedures and also updating other team members in weekly meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy this programme as the work I do day to day is interesting to me and there is also opportunity for collaboration within the team.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My teamworking and communication skills have been greatly improved through workshops run by the company and has prepared me well for client engagement. Also early on we were put through a week long excel course whilst also covering handy tips to use when working on outlook, word, powerpoint etc. Also over the course of working on different audits I have learnt how to complete sample testing in audit with the development team and also my regular team.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the programme is good as there is sufficient time between learning the content and sitting the exam. There could be more study leave days to allow us to prepare fully before an exam as there are many work commitments such as visiting client sites in between that may disrupt revsion.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have not had many issues so far in which I would need extensive support from my employer but there is a system set up in which I have a strong support system around me if I was ever to need any necessary support such as a performance coach and other senior members of the team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider provides good teaching resource and has skilled teachers in place to deliver the content but one way to improve is to make example questions more similar to exam style to reflect what we will see in an exam
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

In my qualification I have already learnt skills that I have been able to implement in my role as they relate closely to the work I do.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are sports clubs and quiz nights and I have taken part in these as they are a great way to meet new people. There is also a Muslim network that runs social events every few months.

Would you recommend National Audit Office to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The Nao course structure is very good and gives apprentices a chance to settle in to working rather than being on the more intensive side. The company is also very supportive and has systems in place to ensure any concerns can be raised
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Audit Office?
Take an interest in the company as the work we do is very good so this will motivate you to take on a role here.
