I support the NAO in the audit of public sector bodies to ensure transparency in the use of taxpayers' money.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed my apprenticeship at the NAO. I've felt supported gaining work experience in audit whilst also working towards a respected professional qualification, the ACA.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed technical audit skills and improved my documentation and attention to detail.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is generally well-structured. There's a clear progression pathway that combines work experience with professional development. I have been given the opportunity to work on a wide variety of audits, giving me exposure to many client systems and financial reporting issues, supporting my learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have felt very well supported. The popular opinion is that the NAO value and look after their trainees.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We are given ample amounts of study leave for exams and also offered support if we are struggling.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There are a variety of social clubs at the NAO, such as tennis, netball, and yoga. There are also different networks like the women's network and the ethnic minority network.
