Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work within the Facilities team on the Helpdesk, answering calls and emails and issuing reactive and preventative jobs to the onsite engineer team. I also arrange subcontractor visits to carry out servicing. I raise POs and receipt once work has been completed. I work closely with the Facilities Manager and UK Facilities director.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme as a lot of what I am learning and discussing with my assessor isn't within my day to day role. I am learning new skills and by the end of the course feel like I will be confident enough to step into a leadership role. It is giving me an insight of what I might have to deal with when that time comes and I feel I am going to be well equipped for dealing with whatever is thrown my way.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Whilst doing my apprenticeship I have learnt key skills that would benefit me when stepping into a leadership role, such as confidence. Confidence is something I struggle with when making decisions but during the duration of my apprenticeship this has built my confidence massively. I have also learnt on how to deal with conflict, which I am sure will help me in the future.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I have had a few ups and downs during my apprenticeship due to staff sickness and my assessor sickness which has made it difficult to find the time to study. I have found it difficult on what to put in my journal to make up 20% of my study time. The course itself I find has been well structured and each modules links in with the next one I do, so that has been really helpful and everything I am learning is sticking with me throughout the course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My manager has been really supportive during the course of my apprenticeship. She has always asked if I need any materials or support whilst doing my workbooks, asking if I needed any more time and finding me space so I can take myself away to concentrate and not be bothered by anyone.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

When I have struggled with anything I have always emailed my assessor or discussed with my assessor on our planned review teams calls and she has always helped me out. OneFile isn't the easiest system to use and sometimes crashes.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My confidence has massively grown and I have realised that I am more ready to be put into a leadership role. I do feel like the facilities team I work in, come to me as if I am already in a leadership role and look up to me and come to me for advise.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

As a department we organise social activities outside of work, working on team building.
As far as I am aware there is no other extra-curricular activities

Why?
Labcorp have fantastic benefits, such has private medical care and pension schemes. There also seems to be a want to promote from within and push their staff to reach their maximum potential.
