Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Day to day consists of placement which changes every 6 months when I am not at university on block release. It starts at 7 and finishes at 4 however hours are flexible. Each placement is different however things move very slow and sometimes there is not a lot to do.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It can be very slow and sometimes there is not alot of work as a degree apprentice as lots of people above are busy. However, it depends on the placement and the mentors you are given. The block release at uni is fun but lots of content in a little time frame can become hard.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes while at uni I have learnt new skills and been able to further develop skills that I previously had. I am yet to learn any new physical skills. I have improved on social skills as an apprentice will meet lots of new teams and people.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The organisation has improved of recent due to new people joining the company and some line managers working hard sorting things with uni ect. However, the communication between apprentice and other can be poor due to lack of time on site. No one knew where I was going or where I would out turn within my apprenticeship and was left in the dark for the first year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
From my personal experience my line manager couldn't do enough for me and new people who have taken over in other management rolls listen to apprentices a lot more. Each placement I have been on as well the team and managers have been good. There is also people who can support personal stuff along with neurodiversity.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
From the company a lot of support such as time off for education and revision ect. A level 6 probably less support than a level 3 but it is still enough and if any more support was required all you need to do is ask.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
NCFN provides a degree education however because work at AWE is so specific it is very hard to teach. Some basic things are transferable, most of it will never be used in any role on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There probably is however you would have to look into it or ask. They are not promoted at the start of the apprenticeship so if you wanted to join one you would have to research off your own back.
