Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Day-to-day my day starts either working from home or in the office sat within my team consisting of other apprentices, graduates and engineers. I sit at a desk mostly looking at drawings of facilities and plant, creating drawings for facilities and researching various regulations and standards around these. I have recently learnt to use AutoCAD software which means I can draw on the computer to create plans and details. I have lots of support from my mentor and others around me when I'm unsure on materials and requirements.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It is early days within my five year programme, however, I have learnt lots already and I cant wait to see what I will eventually know in five years time, especially at the rate I am now. I have been lucky enough to go on various site visits and visually see real life projects which relate to my university course allowing me to further my understandings of construction methods.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt engineering skills and terms, software of AutoCAD and enhanced my organisational skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Within my placement I have been very fortunate that my mentor has a great plan of daily tasks and responsibilities to upskill my engineering knowledge. Within the bigger apprentice programme it is sometimes difficult to understand where I am in the programme and how this will change along the plan.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is lots of support within my placement from my mentor and peers, this can be as little and small daily tasks to bigger personal problems. From the employer I have a great Line Manager, Task Manager, Pastoral support amongst other applications and online support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
From LSBU I have tri-partite reviews which goes through my monthly logs and reports as well as looking ahead to completing my EPA (End Point Assessment).
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have been able to apply what I have been learning at university on real life projects and relate it to real life practises. this is great as I can understanding this better.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Unfortunately not that I know of from me, I know there is a social football team however this isn't my sport and would prefer to become involved in something else.
