Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my role I receive order request in the inbox and then I raise the orders for different companies and send them there purchase order number when ordered. I also answer queries and chase approvers to make sure orders are approved in line with the need by date.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme and the job I do, I have learnt many things and enjoy work, however the college side is difficult to start with as its a lot of information but when your used to the work load it is easy to deal with and less overwhelming. Once settled in to my programme it becomes really enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have leant to manage time better and work efficiently so I can raise as many orders as possible. I have also developed the existing skill of multitasking.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme at royal mail is structured too a top tier. It is very well organised, college and work communicate regularly to ensure that they know how the apprentices are doing, we have monthly reviews which gives opportunity for college and work to see our progress. Also when college is in holidays we have to work in the office an extra day and it is structured well so it is very rare for there to be miscommunication.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is a lot of support at Royal Mail, there is places to ask for help if needed, such as the well being hub or help at hand. However without asking for help there is still a lot of support as your line manager checks in with you weekly just to see how your doing and you always feel like someone is there to help you.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
There is a lot of support from the training provider (AAT) especially when there are upcoming exams, they send emails to ensure your aware of the exam, send checklist to advise what you need to know, also college help giving us past papers that are AAT and half a day study leave so we are able to revise.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I am still on the first level as I started last year so I am still working towards my first qualification, however whilst working towards the qualification, all the detail and information I am getting from college, AAT and royal mail is really helpful and it becomes easier to perform well as you have all the information you need to succeed.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is always some options to take part in extra curricular activities, sometimes there is bingo to take part in to raise money for British heart foundation, there is YOGA classes each week, there is raffles regularly to also raise money, sometimes there is options to go to networking events to raise awareness for the apprenticeships schemes at Royal Mail.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Royal Mail Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Working for the Royal Mail is something I would definitely recommend, there is so many opportunities within the company, if your an apprentice you are moved jobs yearly so you can get as much experience as possible and also there is a job at the end or an option to go to university whilst still employed at the royal mail.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Royal Mail Group?
Ensure you know the background information such as there policies and there expectations, this way you can show you have done your research and they will be impressed and gives you a higher chance of being noticed. Ensure you are going to give 100% effort and always try your best when working here as it is a high work rate in the office all of the time!
