Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I assist in the whole cycle of projects. My first involvement is pricing potential projects. Following secured work I set up for projects such as completing pre-contract documents, client meetings, analyze data, I carry out fieldwork, including visual and invasive assessments to different buildings such as Non-Traditional houses and blocks of flats which vary in construction types, and finally assessing all the data I receive back from laboratories and findings from site to write reports.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy work at MDA and can confidently say I also enjoyed going to college. The job is varied and I am both office and on site based which has personally helped me gain lots of knowledge whilst having fun.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

At MDA we are a very close team, I have had numerous great mentors who have helped me develop and gain new skills. Through the progression of my career so far I have developed management skills which go hand in hand with other skills such a steam work and communication.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

As I work in the construction industry, every week is different. Considering this, the organization of my course and work balance was great, I had 1 day allocated to college with the remaining 4 days split between being on site completing surveys and in the office assisting Project Mangers etc. MDA also kept the benefit of 9 day fortnight which allowed me to still have family time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

This is very dependent on the teacher, I feel as though there are lots of stuff that were miscommunicated at the beginning of the course and there was always a lot of stress related to the EPA yet not any guidance given until a lecture was given at the very end of the college course. Some teachers appeared to be there to just get a salary, there was often no teaching or enthusiasm.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The course gave me a lot of knowledge in various areas of construction, a lot of the stuff taught was not relevant to my specific role at MDA however, may help me as I progress in my career.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, I am part of the social committee within my team, we often go on social outings such as meals and activities like crazy pool. There is also a yearly pizza party and Christmas party.
