Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a welder fabricator apprentice, my daily responsibilities involve a mix of preparation, hands-on fabrication, and continuous learning. I begin each morning by clocking in, putting on the necessary PPE, and attending a toolbox talk or morning briefing where we discuss the day’s tasks and any important health and safety updates.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I’ve really enjoyed the apprenticeship programme so far. It’s hands-on, challenging, and I’m learning valuable skills every day. Working alongside experienced fabricators has helped build my confidence, and seeing my progress over time has been rewarding. It’s a great way to earn while gaining experience in a trade I enjoy.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
One of the most important areas of development is the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols accurately. This is crucial for ensuring that components are fabricated to precise specifications and tolerances.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The apprenticeship programme is very well structured, providing a clear balance between practical, hands-on experience and theoretical learning. Each stage builds on the last, allowing me to develop my skills steadily and with confidence. Regular progress reviews and support from mentors ensure I stay on track and continue improving consistently.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support I receive from my employer has been excellent throughout the apprenticeship. They take the time to explain tasks clearly, offer guidance when needed, and are always approachable if I have questions. I’ve been given the opportunity to learn at my own pace while still being challenged to improve every day.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider offers a great deal of support as I work towards my qualifications. They provide clear learning materials, regular check-ins, and helpful feedback on my progress. Whenever I have questions or need extra guidance, they’re quick to respond and always willing to help me understand and succeed in my studies.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel very confident about the practical training provided by my training provider. The hands-on sessions are well-planned and closely reflect real workplace tasks, which helps me build the skills I need on the job. The training is clear, supportive, and gives me the confidence to apply what I’ve learned effectively at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Not currently but that is something that may be coming in the future.
