Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role currently at NG Baileys is an apprentice electrician currently in my 3rd year I didn’t think I would be where Iam now with my progress since starting nearly 3 years ago, the people at Ng Bailey have shown me skills I will carry with me throughout my career. My day at NG Baileys involves a brief chat before the day begins regarding issues with work, planning where you will be working etc. Since Iam still an apprentice I will be given support throughout the task but also aloud my own creative freedom to finish the job to a high standard.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really do enjoy my apprenticeship. There are things that a completely new to me that took a whole and a lot of confidence to do but overall has made me gain confidence and a more professional profile of myself.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed countless skills here at Bailey’s with day to day tasks and everyday I will realise something new that I hadn’t before that will benefit the standard of my work. Most of all for me. A skills that has improve the most for me is my communication skills. The people at baileys have the time to talk to you to help you in anyways that you need if it’s support during work with something that you are stuck with there will always be somebody there to help an talk you through it. As an apprentice that is a huge help an would be really difficult to learn if Ng Bailey didn’t have employees who arnt willing to help.

Structure and Support

Ng Bailey have got an amazing apprenticeship programme in both electrical and mechanical engineering. They are will to even give you time to test out other fields of the industry if you feel like you are wanting to try out a new career. The support has been great an I cannot fault my apprenticeship programme so far.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Massively everything I learn in college transfers over to site. A huge amount theory knowledge I learnt at site. Helps to improve my knowledge as to why we do things on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
NG Bailey offer a wide range of activities outside of work to help improve personal image within the business and to grow your communication skills with other employees going through the apprenticeship scheme. they also offer voluntary days, well-being days where employees are offered a day off to refresh the mind. We have social gatherings with employees to celebrate achievements.
