Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Training to be an electrician my role involves installing electrical equipment. Every day I work closely with an experienced electrician and carry out tasks this can also include health and safety inspections for equipment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy the programme. My colleagues are friendly and willing to teach me new skills. My college has good facilities and my tutors are very knowledgably. I also enjoy the development days where I can meet other apprentices.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

So far I have developed my confidence and communication skills as well as technical skills. This includes using power tools, working at height platforms and specialised tools.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I would say the programme is very well organised I get regular emails from both my employer and college regarding apprentice news, events and updates. I also have regular reviews where I can track my progress and discuss where I should be in the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer as they are always checking in with me outside of my reviews. I can openly speak with my supervisor about anything and they are quick to provide support when needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My Train provider is always checking in with me and are happy to provide alternative support if needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Through my training provider I am able to develop my theory work apply it practically in my day -to-day work .
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

So far i have been involved in social activities working with local schools.

Give yourself plenty of time to complete your application. Be sure to do research about the company and the role you are applying for, get in touch and ask questions if your not sure about anything.
