Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Coding python scripts and liaising with stakeholders about what each script should do and how we implement it. Beyond this, I work on more transformational projects which improve our day to day work to make data analysis easier for scientists.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme: my employer is very willing to facilitate for my interests, meaning more work comes my way which I enjoy and am able to do. I find the collaborative environment very useful and enjoy the company of my colleagues

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my python and web development skills and learnt the basics of R C# too. I have learnt how to carry out business analysis and manage my time better.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well structured. All deadlines have been communicated very clearly and I understand the apprenticeship journey and where I am in it.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

As much as I need. If I need more time for university work, it is given - all in balance. I have not found anything lacking on this front

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Many resources are available which I can use anytime online, as well as the campus where I can go talk to my professors in person. The communication has been good

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification is directly applicable to my role, and some work tasks I was not able to complete until I had done the module for that subject - and many times the quality of my work has improved because of what I have learnt in my modules.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there is a leisure centre at work which has weekly sports sessions and spaces available to use. There are many organised apprentice events and also work events like lectures and workshops which I encouraged to attend.
