Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

The week started off with a presentation panel with the Trainee Principal and then followed up by a trainee panel. I then sat in the corporate and TMT teams for a day each. It was a really great experience, I was able to undertake some challenging but enjoyable work and the Supervisor and Trainee Buddy was always to hand for advice and guidance on the work.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

Everyone in the team really took time out of their day to explain the work being set and how it fits within the wider Dentons team. There was also presentations explaining Dentons' business model, especially its unique international model.

I developed my time management skills. Ensuring to complete the work on time but also attend the really insightful presentations also.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Everyone was really supportive and lovely. They took the time to get to know me and my legal journey so far. There was some really great presentations on diversity and inclusion - which again, is reflective of the firm's culture of inclusion.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

It was honestly a really great experience. I learnt a lot about Dentons and its people. And the experience actually exceeding my expectations. It was also just a great personal learning experience. I look forward to being able to implement the skills I have picked up and developed through the scheme.

Just ensure that you have done your research. Dentons is a firm that has several layers and there will always be layers which align with you. Whether that's the pro bono initiatives or the world class work - really take the time to gain an understanding.
