Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
Airbus is a great company with lots of rich experience and knowledge. It also comes with many perks and they thoroughly look after their employees. However, It can be a very slow environment. The qualification is a good one to have under your belt but the teaching is awful.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It's been ok. It has its up and downs like any job but its a great experience and a good place to start my career at a young age.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
You have to drive your own development as they do not provide you with key skills to learn specific to aerospace engineering. You do however get provided with a framework for generic behaviors and skills all engineers should possess.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
First year is entirely study based. The 2nd and 3rd years are mix between college, university and work and it can be really messy. The final year is more simply just university and work. So, there is this structure however, it is not organized in the slightest.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Airbus do listen to our concerns and they do communicate with the training provider. They make our studies a priority which is helpful. However support in the work place is difficult as most employees are focused on their job and not prepared to support apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The teaching quality is extremely poor. They have a lot of staff but seem to take on more than they can handle.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I very rarely use knowledge or skills from my qualification in my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are groups for all people to get involved and lots of networking opportunities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Airbus to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company put safety and employee wellbeing as a top priority. it is a very high quality place to work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Airbus?
Think differently, really show you are creative and go beyond the norm. Show an interest in aerospace. Be confident, really show off why you are the fit for the role.
