Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working across the full Project Lifecycle, from conception and design through to handover into live.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoyed the programme, and felt lucky to have such a supportive mentor through the apprenticeship provider who gave me the motivation and support to progress and excel.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Through the apprenticeship i gained a new respect for the SMEs we 'borrow' to support our projects, and i have seen financial management and assurance in a different light. I also developed my existing skills in planning techniques.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The structure was spot on for me. I liked being able to choose live classes to suit my availability, and getting feedback on drafts was very useful.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Though i had a supportive Manager, finding time during working hours was often a challenge and often meant work had to be done on evenings and weekends.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Excellent support from the training provider, including a fantastic mentor and enthusiastic and knowledgeable teachers for the live sessions and workshops. I did have my favourite 'teachers' due to their teaching style, and was pleased to find I could choose my own dates for class activities and could often book on with the 'teacher' of my choice.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I was able to put my learning into practice from very early on in the programme, and through structured 121s with my line manager i could clearer evidence where my learning had translated into my day to day role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Although there are activities and networking events, these tend to be London-based, so those outside the City, don't have the same opportunities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Royal Mail Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The variety of roles available and the many career paths you could take is a big selling point, but currently i would say it is the pace of change - it is exciting to be working on projects that are shaping the future of such a British institution
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Royal Mail Group?
If you have an opportunity to move around functions or even just shadow different areas - there is so much to learn and see across the business, you will never be bored.
