Overseeing the whole operations of the hub, flow of the mail, automation performance. Engagement with key stakeholders operations, transport team, Central Postal Control, SMEs and engineers. Key in decision making on night shift to ensure smooth operations of the hub.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During apprenticeship I have learned various skills regarding logistics and supply chain such as operation design, inventory management, risk analysis, project management. Skills acquired helped me to gain broader understanding of the business and how our supply chain is interconnected
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Unfortunately wasn't organised as expected as required KSBs evidence portfolio requirement was only communicate in March (correct structure such as STAIR document) which only left 5 months till all 60x 2 KSBs had to be evidenced. If required standard was presented in year one a lot of stress would be eliminated
How much support do you receive from your employer?

University release was difficult, a lot of time spent on my own time to ensure good grades as well as assignment submission on time. People don't realise how much work is required to submit assignments every 6 weeks
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Leeds trinity university was fantastic. I have received a lot of support from some amazing tutors who made sure that I receive timely feedback and can get 121 scheduled meetings what work for me (I am the only one in course working panama night shift)
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have gained immense knowledge regarding logistics and supply chain which helped me a lot in various aspects of my role. Better understanding of various functions of the business, as well as networking to gain knowledge in various areas of the RM
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Unfortunately due to night shift work networking events are difficult but if there were some I would love to attend on my rest days. I am currently looking at getting involved in some events soon after finishing my exams in July and graduating in December

Especially lately employee development is taken very seriously which is great to see. Growth mindset of the company and investment in their people goes a long way.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Royal Mail Group?
Can do attitude, resilience, self starter mentality and growth mindset is a must! There are always opportunities to progress within a business therefore if you start at the lover level it doesn't mean you have to stay there
