As an Area Manager within the Transport Operations Management team at an Amazon Fulfillment Center, my primary responsibility is to oversee the smooth and efficient flow of outbound transportation activities. This involves ensuring that all trailer movements in and out of the site are executed safely, on time, and in line with Amazon’s high operational standards.
On a day-to-day basis, I manage a team responsible for coordinating trailer arrivals and departures, resolving any logistical or scheduling conflicts, and maintaining constant communication with internal stakeholders and external carrier partners. I monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time departures, dock door utilization, yard flow efficiency, and carrier compliance, using data to drive performance improvements and operational excellence.
I also play a key role in ensuring adherence to safety procedures and Amazon’s standard operating processes. This includes conducting audits, leading daily shift briefs, supporting root cause investigations when issues arise, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement long-term solutions.
Ultimately, my role is about balancing operational execution with continuous improvement, ensuring that every trailer movement contributes to Amazon’s promise of fast, reliable delivery to customers.
