Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a structures inspector so my day either consists of being on site inspecting approximately 10 structures per day on site. Days I'm in the office I am writing up the inspection report for these structures to determine the condition of the structure and whether or not remedial action is required. I also attend college once a week.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my job especially the diverse working week it gives me and the range of different problems I am faced with along with the strong connections I have build with my team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have definitely learned many new skills including how to properly assess the condition of a structure identifying defects and speculating how the defects may have occurred. I have also improved upon my teamworking, writing, awareness, and safety skills throughout my role

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I would say it has a good structure to it as beginning as an inspector has helped me gain the knowledge of how to identify defects and determine the severity of them to a high degree of accuracy which will assist me when I move on to a more design role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I always have support in my role and I am confident that any issues I face I can ask my employer and the collegues around me without judgement as they all want the best out of me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Similar to above I know I always have the support and help there if I need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Every opportunity that arises to take on new training courses and get further qualifications I jump on and there are always opportunities given to further my learning and growth in my career.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There may be a slight lack in the extra curricular activities but we do have at least one day a year for Christmas where we all meet up for a meal which is very enjoyable. I would like the idea of more sporting type extracurricular activities.
