Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Providing all age groups with life saving road safety advice and promote safer road awareness, through the use of initiatives aimed at primary schools all the way through to mature drivers. I am responsible for social media awareness also, updating the public with road safety related social media posts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Since joining in July last year I have loved every second of being involved with several aspects of road safety and have gained extensive knowledge, and gained important connections along the way. Kier is a fantastic employer with a range of opportunities to personally develop.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My communication skills have drastically improved, due to working alongside other sectors of the business, alongside my ability to present in the presence of others and big audiences. My organisational skills have also massively improved as well as my technical abilities thanks to Kier's endless personal development opportunities.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is structured brilliantly, support is always just an email or call away. Communication is also a massive benefit of my programme as I can constantly improve due to constructive feedback being given constantly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Kier have supported me massively, not only within my apprenticeship but as a person too with a well structured policy and several channels of support should I need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

RHG are fantastic at swiftly responding to any questions or concerns that I may have. Response times are fast and with precise information.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The programme has allowed me to further deepen my knowledge around policies and strategies and why they are crucial to operational success. My apprenticeship has also allowed me to ask questions and become more engaged in topics within my workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are several events that I have attended that have helped me improve my networking skills as well as my confidence, this has been vital in my professional development and there are several different opportunities I will take advantage of in the future such as volunteering days.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Kier Group?
Always ask questions if you are unsure of a task or objective or even a question, there is always support and never a silly question. Also do not be hesitant to provide your ideas or intake on a task as this can be very beneficial for not only you but the organisation.
