Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My current role is in the Lease Consultancy Team. My day-to-day is summarising leases, searching for comparable evidence, and drafting client reports to assist my team in their negotiation processes. I also attend site visits for inspection and measurement purposes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed my programme to a large extent, as with anything there are stressors but overall the teams I have worked in have been enjoyable and the people friendly and supportive.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt many soft skills such as presenting, confidence, learning how to conduct myself in the workplace. As well as technical skills such as understanding key lease terms, strategy in negotiations, and excel.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe the Savills graduate scheme is one of the more organised programmes. However, I do believe there could be more clarity with the role of supervisors/ counsellors, and how to ensure you are ticking off the correct competency levels. As well as organising more graduate-related events for learning soft skills and to socialise with graduates that you may not see day to day.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is a level of responsibility and independent working expected, but overall I receive a lot of support. In my experience, whenever I have reached out with queries people have been happy to help. +
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

As I am still early on in my programme I have not had much experience with the RICS and my APC yet, but UCEM have been helpful and have a lot of resources available.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

What I do at UCEM does not necessarily align with my current day-to-day role. But I do feel like I continue to learn writing, comprehension, and time-management skills which are useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are events organised for graduates only, and there are sports events. There are also DE&I initiatives such as the social mobility group, however, I feel these could be organised/ advertised more as I have not been made aware of any socials/ charity initiatives since I joined the group in September.

You are able to learn a lot everyday, which is especially good if you're not sure what you want to specialise in. The company pushes and encourages you into becoming a successful young professional. You have the opportunity to meet a lot of people which is good for your career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
Be personable, don't be afraid to have unique backgrounds or experiences - not studying real estate can put you at an advantage as you have a different perspective and skill-set. Show your passion specifically for Savills, find real-life examples and reach out to people on LinkedIn.
